October Safety Spotlight: Teamwork, Quick Action, and a Strong Recovery

ree

October brought a powerful reminder of what safety, teamwork, and compassion truly mean here at RAE Corporation. While our Safety Incentive Program highlights positive actions every month, this past month showed the strength of our people in a way that words can barely capture.

Earlier this month, a serious accident occurred when a 1,300 lb coil fell on one of our team members. Thanks to the fast, decisive actions of several employees, the injured team member was freed within moments and received immediate care.

We are relieved to share that the injured employee is recovering from a broken pelvis, a partially collapsed lung, and a forehead laceration. Their progress has been steady, and the support from our RAE team has been nothing short of inspiring.

Safety Spotlight Honorees

Four employees demonstrated exceptional heroism in the critical moments following the incident:

  • Tyler Griggs

  • Elizabeth Hutt

  • Ashley Harms

  • Michael Bradshaw

These individuals acted without hesitation, lifting the coil and helping the injured team member escape from beneath it. For their extraordinary efforts, each will receive $100 through our Safety Incentive Program.

Their response represents the very best of who we are—and what it means to look out for one another.

The strength of the RAE Corporation team was on full display throughout this incident. Within minutes:

  • First Responders Christy Wilkerson, Shanoah Smoke, and Jessica Shea arrived on scene, providing calm, steady support until EMS arrived.

  • The Coil Shop team immediately shut down operations, inspected all coil carts, and red-tagged them to prevent further use until repairs were completed.

  • Welders from multiple departments sprang into action, cutting off damaged wheels and welding secure replacements.

  • The Maintenance team repaired concrete hazards the very same day.

  • Team members reached out to the injured employee and their family, offering encouragement, support, and visits in the days that followed.

Moments like these reveal the character of our people. We are more than coworkers—we are a team that reacts with urgency, compassion, and unity when one of our own needs help.

  • Seth Cave

  • Shawn Vogel

  • Brooklyn Wells

  • Carolyn Grubb

  • Joseph Campbell

  • Lee Bennett

Congratulations, and thank you for keeping safety at the forefront of everything you do.

This month’s events reinforced the importance of staying alert, communicating openly, and looking out for one another. Safety is not just a program—it’s a promise we make every day to our team and our families.

Thank you to everyone who acted with courage, compassion, and professionalism during this difficult moment. Your actions made a difference, and they reflect the heart of RAE Corporation.
