At RAE Corporation, safety is more than a requirement—it’s a shared responsibility and a core value that guides how we work every day. The December Safety Spotlight recognizes team members who demonstrated exceptional awareness, accountability, and commitment to keeping themselves and others safe.
Safety Spotlight Winner: Chelsea Silkey
This month’s Safety Spotlight goes to Chelsea Silkey for identifying and addressing a serious safety concern within the Crating department.
Chelsea observed Crating employees manually lifting AAON coils weighing approximately 250 pounds, a task that posed a significant risk of injury. Recognizing the hazard, Chelsea exercised her Stop Work Authority, immediately pausing the operation until a safer solution could be identified.
To address the issue, a rigging specialist was brought in to evaluate the task and provide professional recommendations for proper lifting methods. Following that assessment, Engineering and Sales collaborated on design changes that now allow the coils to be lifted safely and efficiently using the recommended J-hooks.
Chelsea’s actions helped prevent potential injuries and exemplify what it means to put safety first.
As part of our Safety Incentive Program, Chelsea will receive a $100 award.
