Updated PPE Requirements for Brazing Operations

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2026, updated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements will go into effect for all brazing activities. These changes are being implemented to ensure continued compliance with OSHA safety regulations and to help provide a safer working environment for employees performing torch brazing operations.

Under the updated requirements, all employees performing brazing operations will be required to wear Shade 3 eye protection while completing these tasks.

To support employees and provide options for comfort and accessibility, the following approved PPE choices will be available:

  • Shade 3 safety glasses

  • Shade 3 over-the-glasses safety glasses

  • A visor equipped with a Shade 3 shield

These approved options are specifically intended for employees performing brazing operations using a torch.

During the initial rollout, Supervisors and Leads will distribute the required PPE items directly to employees. In addition, we are actively working to have these items stocked in the PPE vending machines as quickly as possible to improve long-term accessibility and convenience.

Please note that employees may continue wearing standard ANSI Z87-rated safety glasses for work activities that do not involve torch brazing operations.

Safety remains a top priority, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we implement these updated requirements.
